THE ANGELS’ SHARE Sammy Horner/Phil Madeira We've been on this merry dance a lifetime now, And I know we didn't start so we could fail But I think I've tried 'bout everything that anyone could try And your coat's been hanging on that rusty nail. It's time to go, say au revoir, auf wiedersehen I've done my best to play this fare Fair thee well won't be seeing you and I won't be back no more I'm letting go as if you were the angels’ share. I know that every person has their sins I know that's true of me as well as you But your words have cut me deeper than my old swiss army knife Now it's time that I was cutting loose from you. It's time to go, say au revoir, auf wiedersehen I've done my best to play this fare Fair thee well won't be seeing you and I won't be back no more I'm letting go as if you were the angels’ share

WHEN ANGER BURNS A BRIDGE Sammy Horner/Kylie Horner It took some figuring out to get us this far down the road I guess we missed some sweet spots on the way It gets a little bumpy when you’ve been travelling for awhile You just can’t find the words that you should say But I ain’t giving up on the two of us And here’s a little something we could both discuss We both get a little jaded, that doesn’t mean that love has faded We’ll take a chance even if it’s slim When anger burns a bridge Forgiveness teaches us to swim This knocking off the edges as we try to get along It's good at getting under our disguise Even when it stings some, well I try to keep in mind If we can stay the distance there's a prize So I ain’t giving up on the two of us And here’s a little something we could both discuss We both get a little jaded, that doesn’t mean that love has faded We’ll take a chance even if it’s slim When anger burns a bridge Forgiveness teaches us to swim Well there aint no point in seething, they say passion rots the bones And I'm stuck here treading water and I'm tired It took some figuring out to get us this far down the road

An Gorta Mor 03:48
AN GORTA MOR Sammy Horner Like cottiers and tenants we only rent our space This holy ground we live upon is a temporary place And the hardships that we suffer, are written on our face And the faces of our family and our clan An Gorta Mor, An Gorta Mor May we never hunger as we did before An Gorta Mor, An Gorta Mor May we never hunger as we did before A million souls were lost to it a million more did roam To far off distant shores across the raging briny foam Some dined on Peel’s Brimstone just to try and keep their home And watched their children die before their eyes May we never hunger like we did before chorus A different blight is with us now it’s poisoning our souls Like the rotting crops that festered in those boggy Irish holes The powerful and the greedy are heaping on the coals Their hunger never stops for more control An Gorta Mor The blue screen lights our face and lights our children’s eyes There’s instant information, but we can’t recognize The difference from the truth and all the pretty little lies And so we starve a little more each day chorus

A HUNDRED YEARS Sammy Horner Now every life lived fully is a life that errors much We crave the things that hurt us With eyes and taste and touch But life is for the living And the risks are heaven sent May you live a hundred years and one more to repent May you live a hundred years, may you live a hundred years May you live a hundred years and one more to repent It's not how you've been knocked down It's the getting up again A lesson learned is worth the cost If next time you abstain Then tell it to your children As a lesson learned and kent May you live a hundred years and one more to repent chorus Tho’ shadows linger at our door They're given form by light The glorious sun shall rise each morn In spite how long the night And every trial that we face won't win with our consent May you live a hundred years and one more to repent chorus

WEXFORD IN THE MORNING Sammy Horner/Kylie Horner I came upon a travelling man, His face as weather beaten as his coat He told me that he'd travelled back to see his home again Worked his passage from Australia on a boat He didn't ask for sympathy, he didn't ask for cash In fact he only stopped to talk a while He offered some advice I've not forgotten to this day He gave it with a wink and with a smile He said, may Jesus travel with you to every place you roam In sunshine and when the weather’s storming For every weary traveller needs to set their baggage down Thank God I'll be in Wexford in the morning You knew he'd seen a mile or two His eyes betrayed sweet sorrows that he knew But his voice contained a sparkle of a man with lesser years And the words he spoke were altogether true He said roaming was the finest way to figure this life out You never know what's just around the bend It could be a disaster or a blessing straight from God A fight or a fine whiskey with a friend chorus And so he took his leave of me I watched him as he walked towards the sun A spring was in his step as if he knew the road ahead As if it was an often travelled one I walked along the way and then I heard his voice once more I turned he cocked his head and winked an eye He said ‘just one more thing, go live each day like it's your last And love with every breath until you die!’ chorus

HEARTBREAKING BEAUTIFUL Sammy Horner I like the way you smile at me just because you can And when I cry at movies but you won’t ‘causeKi you’re a man I like the way you treat me with love and dignity. I call it heart breaking beautiful ain’t that how it should be I like the way your eyes close when I’m playing my guitarra And when your reading poetry you lose all your mascara And when your pouring drinks out, one for you and one for me I call it heart breaking beautiful ain’t that how it should be I like how we walk arm in arm and watch the sun go sinking And how we look like we're both drunk without us ever drinking I like the road that starts in strife and ends in harmony I call it heart breaking beautiful ain’t that how it should be I like the way you look at me through sleepy morning eyes, And how you think that making out is valid exercise The way you talk with animals I think most would agree I call it heart breaking beautiful ain’t that how it should be

A Few Scars 03:22
A FEW SCARS Sammy Horner It was cool when we collided, the day when our paths crossed We thought we’d win no matter what the cost, But we all got our baggage, tho’ we try hard to forget We got a few scars baby and they ain’t healed over yet. It seemed like it was perfect from that first moment’s glance When we embraced our tender new romance But the love songs didn’t tell us from that old dashboard cassette We got a few scars baby, they ain’t healed over yet I was licking my wounds when you came along, I guess I hid them well We’re further down the road and I know that you can tell We got a ways to go, could use some help and I know you’re my best bet We got a few scars baby, they ain’t healed over yet It ain’t true that time heals all things but I think that love just might So forgive me when I grow as dark as night Well I sure ain’t no Romeo And I'm no Juliet We got a few scars baby, they ain’t healed over yet chorus

A PLACE WHERE WE CAN REST Sammy Horner I’ve travelled all around this world, a pilgrim just like you But journeys are as different, as the place you journey to Yet every soul eventually has only one request That their final destination is a place that they can rest Some call its name Nirvana and Tir Na Nog as well Some say better Heaven than a fearful place called Hell It seems as though you have to die for you to find the best So I wonder if this weary world has a place for us to rest Now one came many years ago, these words he had to say There is a kingdom here and now and enter it you may Its built on truth and justice, I speak no word of jest The best of you, the worst of you can find a place to rest Well this was music to the orphan, to the widow’s heart a song The outcast laughed with joy at last, the place he could belong And everyone who doubted, everyone who second guessed They are ushered through a thin veil to a place that they can rest I don’t have many answers, my questions still abound I cant explain the pain and hate I witness all around But an open invitati on goes out to those I detest Come lay your burden down here in a place where you can rest So to every father’s daughter, and to every mother’s son No matter how you’ve got it wrong, no matter what you’ve done If you’ve made great decisions, or your life’s been a mess Lets raise a glass together in the place where we can rest

EACH MAN’S LABOUR Sammy Horner There is a story I recall My father taught when I was younger There is a place we’ll meet again I said ‘I hope you are not wrong sir’ He said love the Lord above Help your kin and help your neighbour And do your best to live in peace This is surely each man’s labour And I remember as a child My mother sang this old song to me It was the sweetest melody And to this day it’s words pursue me She sang love the Lord above Help your kin and help your neighbour And do your best to live in peace This is surely each man’s labour And as the years go drifting by Those words seem ever to be near me So I will pass them on to you And hope in love that you can hear me I say love the Lord above Help your kin and help your neighbor And do your best to live in peace This is surely each man’s labour
