Highest King Of Tara Hill

Randy Kerkman who helped with engineering and guitars on this record, recently moved to Ireland from Colorado. He and his wife Beki are living in a small hamlet that lies between the sea and Tara Hill. He had a notion to write a song about the beauty that surrounds him in Ireland. When he suggested it to me I was reminded of ‘The Hill Of Tara’. This was the seat of power in ancient Ireland. This was the place where the High King had his throne. It occurred to me that the title ‘High King Over All kings’ would have been a powerful statement of who Christ was to the ancient Celts. It suggests that all power, wisdom, authority are found in the one who sits on this throne, and so this metaphor, (with some poetic licence) was born in the studio.
